The historic Malayalam movie Pazhassi Raja has created a new wave at the box offices with the figures at the theatres turning out to be much overwhelming. All old records have been scrapped and the movie still continues to stride elegantly towards success. The movie features Mammootty in the title role and Sarath Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Suman, Kanika and Padmapriya are some of the prominent artistes in the movie.

As per trade sources Pazhassi Raja has grossed over five crores from all the major theatres in a record time of nine days. So too the metros in Kerala have recorded nearly forty lakhs. Asianet has purchased the satellite rights of the movie for a whopping 2.6 crores. This is a historic moment for Malayalam cinema, when the industry itself is going through a very rough patch and the filmmakers are under constant stress to deliver hits.
