Pallikal storms into third round of World Jr Squash

Chennai : Local favourite Dipika Pallikal registered an easy second round victory but over all India had a mixed day in the 13th World Junior Men and Women individual Squash Championship here today.

Top seed Pallikal, who got a bye in the first round, beat Natasha Kingshott of USA 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 in just 14 minutes to storm into the third round of the women's singles event.

Sixteenth seed Anwesha Reddy, who also got a bye in the first round, played with clinical precision to beat Danielle Letourneau of Canada 11-6, 7-11, 12-10, 11-5 while Surabhi Misra stunned 25th seed German Lisa-Marie Sedlmeier 11-2, 11-6, 11-6 in the second round.

Misra earlier defeated Ana Arosa Rodriguez of Spain 11-2 11-1 11-5 in her opening round encounter.
